Technique & Tips

Many people believe that a swimmers stroke deteriorates when competing in open water swim events.  It can happen that an “open water stroke”  is not as perfect as a “pool stroke”, and focus on stroke drills as part of an open water swim programme is important.

There are specific open water techniques that can help counter the wind or sea chop.  Sighting is necessary in open water swims, something pool swimmers do not have to contend with.
